Could Squeeze distance to Madrid, Barca?
Bilbao – Real Madrid defeat of Atletico Madrid a distinct advantage for Barcelona. Can Barca cut the distance to Madrid to one point only?
Madrid 0-4 defeat at the Vicente Calderon last night, Saturday (7/2). The defeat did not change the position of Madrid, they still sit atop the standings. However, the difference in their points with Barca likely trimmed.
Madrid still leads the standings with 54. Meanwhile, Barca came in second place with a value of 50. If you can win over Athletic Bilbao at San Mames on Monday (9/2) pm dawn, two points difference only live one.
Barca performance is good-good. They successfully won eight wins in the last eight games in all competitions. In total, the team made by Luis Enrique scored 29 goals and conceded just five goals.
Athletic, on the other hand, won only three wins in their last eight games in all competitions. The rest, they drew three times and lost twice.
However, Barca had a less pleasant note if competing at San Mames. As reported by the official website of Barcelona, the last time Barca win in San Mamés in a league match was in the 2010/2011 season.
That means that there are four seasons passed and Barca have never won again in La Liga match at San Mames.
“Even if we do not beat Athletic, the distance should not be too big. There is no greater opportunity to get close to Madrid than this.”
“But, when the two rivals you face, you should ensure yourself to win,” said Barcelona defender Jordi Alba, to the US.
